From my advanced years, I offer all these mothers the advice that I have tried to live by: Forget the media. Forget your neighbors. Forget "our society" and "our culture." Forget, if necessary, your own mother/parents. Make your own rules. You (and your partner in parenting, if you have one) know your kids better than anyone else; be the best parent for your particular kid/s that you can be under your particular circumstances. Teach your children, by your example, to live by their own values rather than their peers'.
