I've been fasinated by LIW also - I was raised on her books (in a kind of cool family tradition each kid in my family got her books for Christmas. My older sister the first few, me the next batch, and my younger brother the last ones. I was rather pleased to give my oldest nephew a copy of _Little_House_In_The_Big_Woods a couple of Christmases ago.) Later on I found that she died just a few months after I was born, and thought about writing about my childhood, but decided not. Of course that was before the nephews were born, and now it's up to me to tell them about my parents, grandparents, etc.
