I'd previously mentioned the cranky article in the City Pages about the ice palace, here. Today, in the City Pages there was a letter from a reader protesting, which read in part as follows:

Lighten up, Jim! Yes, the Ice Palace is a pointless spectacle, but as pointless spectacles go, it's a pretty good one: It's one-of-a-kind, visually arresting, and temporary. It's the Buddhist sand painting of the northern tribes.

Huh. Apparently my Aragorn action figure was designed by a guy who lives here in Minneapolis.

I may have to go to that exhibit at the Minnesota History Center.

Hmm . . .

I keep compulsively making more Lord of the Rings phrase icons. And I want to add 'em, but I've totally used up my LiveJournal icon quota.

I know it's irrational, but there isn't a way to have more than fifty icons, is there? By paying the fee twice or anything?

Probably not. Rats. I don't want to erase the ones I have already. I want 'em all.
