Didn't like it either, but it wasn't important enough to me to figure out why; I just didn't reread it. (When I was a kid, I was terminally short on books, so not rereading something was really bad.)

The rest of that list had good books, but I had to mentally recalibrate the age ranges a lot to account for them being assigned reading to kids who don't really want to read.
