Welcome to LiveJournal to [profile] annieways

I wish to offer a warm welcome to [livejournal.com profile] annieways, who is [livejournal.com profile] lkw18's mom and is finally getting up her nerve to stick in her toe and try LJ herself. She and her husband D., who are very good friends from my old church, will be hosting the small study group I'll be joining on Sunday evenings during Lent, with the new church the girls and I are trying. Welcome, Anne! I hope you like LiveJournal as much as [livejournal.com profile] lkw18 and I have!

Did I miss something?

Which new church?

I think she does like it!

She worries that her life is too average and boring, but that hasn't stopped me from having a livejournal!! ; )

See the story here. My church has fallen off in membership so much that there are practically no children left in the Sundday school, so we have to find a new church. There is just no youth program at all left for the girls, not a good situation when Fiona is starting confirmation next year. [livejournal.com profile] annieways and her husband had started attending another church (a very large one: 3000 members!) and told us about it, and so we've tried it, and now I'll be joining them in a small group study that they are hosting on Sunday nights. I want to give it a little time to try it before making the switch. It's always traumatic to change churches, particularly when you love the one you're coming from.

Thank you for the warm welcome and the encouragement from both you and lkw18. I'm still a bit nervous about this whole thing. Being an introvert who writes one thing a year--the holiday newsletter--the thought of keeping a live journal is somewhat overwhelming. I even had LJ nightmares last night!

Oh dear, no nightmares, please! It's really okay; people are so friendly here, and it's so much fun once you get the hang of it. Check out some of the communities to find people who are interested in the same things you are. Check out the LiveJournal Newbies Lounge, which will answer some of your questions and give you ideas about how to use LiveJournal's various features. Here are the Frequently Asked Questions. Don't be shy about commenting: that's how you get to know people; and everyone I know is absolutely thrilled whenever someone responds to something they have to say. If you have any questions, just drop me an e-mail anytime.

Oh, and here are the answers to the two most frequent questions that new users ask:

How do I add a link to another journal or website in my journal?

and

How do I use an lj-cut? What are the other LiveJournal-specific tags?

You'll be a pro in no time.

No, yeah, I knew about the problems with your old place, I just didn't know you'd found somewhere else.

I'm glad the exploration seems to be working, so far-- I know how weird it is to have to change churches.
