In freezing rain on his way into his first work day of the year, Rob slid his car sideways into a guardrail, smacking the front quarter panel and the rear corner (the guardrail was curved).

Rob wasn't hurt, and I'm trying to be grateful for that, but still. No love, Universe.

Yikes. Yes, very bad way to start off a year that has been tasked (careful choice of passive voice) with being *better* than last year. Glad Rob's okay, anyway.
