My mother did it the hard way and cancelled her surgery because she was feeling "so much better." Then she had what we call the "final attack" -- invasive surgery instead of laproscopy and an extremely long recovery time. For the daughter who did the caretaking (because I don't "really" have a job -- grrrrr), this was not the option I would have chosen.
