I wish I could send you a pumpkin, a margarita, and a magical feet-putter-upper (the magic part is that it keeps anyone or anything from needing you to get up until you want to).

We have two extra pumpkins. One orange, one white. I'm not going to carve them unless our pumpkins vanish or get smashed in the night, in which case I will carve one, and Delia would still be welcome to the other.

If only there were teleporters, there are pumpkins all over the place here. If you don't find one tonight, let Delia learn about how it's good to ask for potentially scarce items a bit in advance? Really though, my sympathies, and I have a ton of admiration for people who manage to be parents. I hope you find that pumpkin and get a decent night's sleep.

Someday your daughters will read this journal and be so very sorry for you, and so very grateful for your Mom-endurance.

We've got a bunch from various sources (some of them too small to carve, but still) - I'd send some to you if I could. I would probably be ready to kill someone if I had to do what you did. My heartfelt sympathies. Have some more calorie-free chocolate croissants stress relief for breakfast:

Well, this is too late, but does it have to be a real pumpkin? Many of the local craft stores sell fake pumpkins that can be carved without having the messy pulp. I saw Martha Stewart carving one the other day on TV and it seemed at least as easy as the real thing.

If there are any left in the local craft stores, you might consider picking up one for next year. You can pull it out mid October and spend time planing what to do with it.

*sigh*

Have an extra I'd be happy to give you, but not sure it'll go through the modem. (now, was that irritating, or was it worth a fake-smile grimace?)

Our middle dd has her heart set on trick-or-treating, despite the fact that we've never done so and haven't any plans of starting at this late date. Really, she *doesn't* need the sugar and artificial colors and artificial flavors. *Really*.
