Attention, locals

Anyone local have a copy of any of the following that I can borrow for the next couple of weeks (for writing my paper)?:

The Stone Fey [Thanks, [livejournal.com profile] faeriemusicsmom!]
Deerskin [Thanks, [livejournal.com profile] haddayr!]
Sunshine [Thanks, [livejournal.com profile] naomikritzer]

All by Robin McKinley. Thanks. Note: the paper is being presented 11/17/07, so I need to write it mostly next weekend.

I believe I have both Deerskin and Sunshine. You'd be welcome to borrow them.

I read Deerskin last year, and I just read Sunshine last month. Both are absolutely extraordinary! I'll have to see if my library has The Stone Fey.

And the "heart of stone" motif is very prominent in Peter Straub's "Ashputtle," a very dark revision of the Cinderella story. If you're interested, I can get you a copy when I return home for Thanksgiving.

Gah! I do not have Deerskin. I do have Sunshine and you're welcome to borrow it. I wonder what I did with Deerskin?

Also, I may be able to drop it by on Wednesday; I pass very near your house on my way to/from my daughter's preschool.

If I were local, I'd loan you both of the books. However, I'm in Michigan, so I can't really get them to you in time.

I don't know if this will help some of your local readers or not, but "The Stone Fey" is collected in McKinley's "Imaginary Lands" anthology. Sadly, that one is also hard to find.

I'll be presenting at the conference as well--also on McKinley. I'm taking a different path, though, as I'm focusing on imperialism in the Damar fiction.

I had Deerskin until recently. I mean, I still might have it. I will check tonight.

I'm not local, but I do have Imaginary Lands, with The Stone Fey in it, and it is a short story, and I have a scanner--so if you're desperate, let me know and I can e-mail it to you. If you think Robin McKinley won't mind the copyright violation.

I have Deerskin. I'm in Eagan, but it's a quick trip to rendezvous in the Twin Cities someplace.
