This tree, in the park near our house, flowers magnificently every spring, well before any of the other trees are even thinking about blooming (though you can see that the forsythia is also getting into the act). I think it's an apple tree. When I took these pictures, I was chasing a butterfly, which was flitting from flower to flower like it had to drink from every single one.







We were out of town for the height of the blossoms last year, but I'm hoping to see them this year.

I have bigger versions of all these photos if you want to print them out; just remove the word "small" from the image URL.
