More info

I was honestly quite frightened when I saw the car. Besides the obvious damage to the front end, the windshield was broken, with cracked lines radiating out from directly in front of the front passenger seat. I was relieved to learn from Rob, however, that the impact was made not by Delia's head, as I'd feared, but by the airbag. They were both wearing safety belts.

They gave her a teddy bear in the ambulance, which she said helped. She sounded okay when I talked with her.

Rob just called. She's feeling a little bit of neck pain, but they gave her a super Tylenol and the X-rays don't show anything abnormal, so Delia's about to be released. I'm leaving to go pick them up.

Focus on that: they're OK.

Yes, I'm trying to be grateful for that.

MY car does NOT have airbags.

Thank goodness they are ok....lots of love and good vibes for EVERYTHING being sent your way. Just keep an eye on Delia for a day or two..I know when I was that age and was in an accident it really hit me about 2 days afterwards, I started shaking and throwing up (delayed shock). If that happens, bed and cuddles cured me in about 24 hours.

Oh, boy. I'm so glad Rob and Delia are okay! Car accidents are so scary, in fact I frequently have flashes of them while I'm driving, just as extra fun and surrealism in my day. And they can happen so fast when you're not really doing anything wrong.

Hug them and give those airbags a pat of thanks.

I am SO thankful it's not worse, and that it was mostly just Scary - thanks for keeping us updated. Is there anything I can do from here? And yay to whoever thought to stock ambulances with bears for kids.

Btw, was anyone hurt in the other car?

[identity profile] pegkerr.livejournal.com 2008-08-08 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
No injuries in the other car--at least, no one needed medical treatment, although I know whiplash may take a day or two to show up.

Much with the happiness that everyone's okay, or on the road towards it.

*hugs again*

Cars can be replaced. I'm glad they aren't seriously hurt. And now you get to be OK, too, knowing they are coming home.

Delurking to let you know that I'm praying for you and your family.

Good god, I'm glad they're okay! I honestly don't blame you for feeling like all the these recent stressors are sending you over the edge. It's a lot to deal with--I think that just means you're normal. ;)

:hugs:

Oh, how scary! I'm glad no one has bone damage, at least.

[identity profile] rachet.livejournal.com 2008-08-08 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
Oh thank goodness!!!!

Yeah, I saw a friend's car after an accident and the windshield was shattered. She said it was no one's head but the airbags.

I know they save lives but WOW do airbags scare me!

They're OK. Lots of love, hugs, and cuddles all around.

Thank goodness.

Oh, Peg, what a time you're all having of it. Hugs to you and to Rob and extra hugs to Delia tonight.

I am glad that they're okay. Wow. That's scary.

Whew.

[identity profile] joelrosenberg.livejournal.com 2008-08-08 03:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Glad that neither of them was worse hurt. For something that could have been so much worse, this sounds like a definite relief.

I'm glad they're okay. May this be the last bad thing that happens to your family this year. I think you've had more than your fair share already.
