Everybody's home

Delia is moving quite stiffly, but we're exchanging a lot of hugs. She has an ironclad excuse for not going to sparring class tomorrow. Hospital said that she'd probably be quite sore tomorrow, and we should wake her in the middle of the night to give her Tylenol.

She named her new teddy bear "Patches."

*hugs* to all of you.

...and Patches.

My goodness! I am glad to hear that she is alright.

Poor kiddo. I hope she feels better soon.

How Rob doing?

He seems to have escaped unscathed, again, thanks to the airbag.

remember it may take 24 hours or so

for the maximum stiffness/pain from the accident. I hit a stop-sign runner once upon a time, it was very low speed because the streets were slightly slick (he had a ginormous car and had cleared an approximately 8 x 11" spot in front of him on his windshield but nothing more of any of his lightly-frost-covered windows. It took over 24 hours for me to fell the muscle soreness from it.

I'm really glad no one except the car is hurt. that is excellent.

Yes, the hospital told us to expect the worst of the soreness to show up tomorrow.

Glad everyone is home safe! So very glad no one was seriously hurt. Here's hoping for a smooth and easy process of dealing with everything else. Let me know if I can be of assistance.

I'm so glad they're both okay. And take care of you, too - you've been through a major shock.

Oh god, Peg, I am so glad things aren't worse, that they're both doing all right.

Oh, good. I mean, it's too bad you can't just rewind the whole day and start over, but as it is, whew.

Doing some forms might be good stretching exercises that help down the road. Dunno what Rob will do...

I read these posts late last night. Good grief. But I am very glad that everyone is all right. I tried to decide which icon would amuse Delia best, and thought of using the "I'm a STAUNCH woman" one--which surely must be her motto this year--but in the end I figured that THIS icon is probably closer to how she's feeling as the soreness sets in. ;-) Hang in there, all of you.

I'm glad to hear everyone's okay.

Tell Delia to get lots of rest.

Poor little thing.
Arnica cream might help a bit with the muscle soreness & stiffness (can't hurt, anyway, and it's a nice excuse for gently stroking an injured lived one, which I think helps healing).

Oh, dear

I'm just catching up on lj after being out of town. I hope she continues to feel better, give her a delicate hug for me (no crushing of hurt bodies!) and tell her we'll arrange a time to sew as soon as she's feeling up to it/time permits.

Thanks, D. Delia has spoken about wanting to get back together with you (she has had SO much fun showing off her outfit). She has a girl scout overnight tomorrow and then leaves for camp for a week on Sunday, so it won't be for a little while yet.

You've gotten some good advice in these comments. Let me add - my daughter was in a serious rollover accident about two years ago. Fortunately, she walked away, thanks to her seatbelt.

Aside from the soreness, what I noticed was that she would have flashbacks and some traumatic nightmare type stuff and it lasted a while. Several months and she will still occasionally have a bad dream about it. So if Delia has some bad dreams or flashes back to that moment of impact or whatever moment was the scariest, don't be surprised. Our doctor said it was really normal when Em was going through it.

I'm so glad Delia is okay.

[identity profile] pegkerr.livejournal.com 2008-08-09 05:01 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks for your input; I appreciate hearing about your daughter's experience (and glad she came through it; hurray for seatbelts). We will watch out for that for Delia.
