Awesome start to the day

I brought an AWESOME lunch today: ratatouille, topped with monterey jack cheese, homemade fresh peach pie (oatmeal topping!), beets and onions, oven-roasted in balsamic vinegar and a little bit of butter, and a dessert made of plain yogurt mixed with pumpkin and a dollop of maple syrup. Sorry I didn't have time to take a picture and post it before leaving this morning, but trust me: it's pretty, healthy and delicious.

Delia got up this morning and kept me company as I was getting ready for work, which was nice. She's trying to shift her circadium rhythms because next week she's got to get up early enough to catch a bus that arrives at 7:00 a.m. Ouch.

My bike ride this morning was really enjoyable. Perfect weather. No wind, clear skies. Lots of frisking squirrels sighted. Listened to Entrain's "Can U Get It" which would make anybody want to get up and dance. And I had put a splash of Kahlua in my homemade coffee slush. Yum.

What's making you happy today?

That today is the anniversary of women's suffrage in the USA.

I just learned this about ten minutes ago- I got handed a nifty bookmark and pen in celebration of today. Hurray for the right to VOTE!

I managed W3 D1! 20/15/15/13 (17). It was tough, but I did it!

It's a gorgeous day here, too. I'm still getting fresh garden produce, I'm working my way through an extensive to-do list, my kids are at school and I actually got some sleep last night. (I need more, but it's a start!)

Your lunch sounds fantastic, and I'm glad you have so many things to smile over today. Btw, I have a fairly easy - and healthy - peach filling recipe, sort of what you'd put into a pie but without the pie - you can put it in plain yogurt, or spoon it on top of hot cereal, pancakes/crepes/waffle, biscuits, ice cream or eat it plain. Would you like my (invented) recipe?

"What's making you happy today?"

I'm at a CATO event explaining why Libertarianism doesn't work for homeland security.

And it makes me even happier that you are doing that.

A perfectly ripe cantaloupe from Rainbow Foods; already ate a quarter of it in one sitting.

What's making me happy?

I found out one day after graduating, and after 3.5 years of trying, my husband and I are pregnant!

AWESOME! Congratulations!

I'm wearing my grandmother's buttons. Or rather a pendant I made from buttons collected from four generations- it makes me feel connected to all the women in my family tree, and able to remember and miss my grandmother throughout the day with happiness rather than sadness. If I were a character in a book, this pendant would be my talisman with hidden strengths.

After careful consideration of my finances and some investigation into my insurance's discount programs, I determined that I can get new glasses before my vacation to Disney World next month. I'm relieved about this because my eyes have been bugging me lately and are in need of a check-up. It'll be tight on the finances, but I'll be able to manage it and not dig into my vacation savings at all. Yay!

I just read a really interesting and well scripted play called "The White Rose" for a class.

There are at least 40-50 birds on the bird feeder, on the ground under the bird feeder, on the garden arch over the bird feeder, sitting on the gazebo railing next to the bird feeder, sitting on the fence behind the bird feeder, etc. etc. The garden looks lovely and the bird song is a great soul feeder.

What's making you happy today?

I had lunch with friends I haven't seen all summer at a very good Filipino restaurant.

I'm glad you're happy!

Receiving my significant other's daily text messages when I was done with work, that's what made me happy today. Everyday, actually. :-)

Your description of you awesome lunch makes me happy. Well, it makes me hungry, which is much the same, sometimes.

I had my very first ever massage today. And my best friend bought a house, and I spent the evening helping him paint his basement.
