"The Ex-Beauty Queen's Got a Gun"

[livejournal.com profile] marcgunn has information about a song called "The Ex-Beauty Queen's Got a Gun" written by Julie Brown in parody of her own song "The Beauty Queen's Got a Gun"> You can watch a video of the original song and read the lyrics for the new version here at Marc's blog. Julie Brown's website, where you can get the new .mp3, is here.

SO not politically correct.

Oh noooooo! That's one of the songs that gets into my head and never leaves!

But I didn't know there was an updated version. Must go read the lyrics.

You can hear it here, where she originally performed it on the Stephanie Miller Show:

(the video is just a montage that someone put together)

By the way, to refer back to a previous post, I thought you might like to hear:
"Planned Parenthood spokesperson Tait Sye said a separate online campaign to raise money on its behalf "in honor of Sarah Palin" has netted more than $1 million from over 38,000 donors in all 50 states and two-thirds of the donations are from new donors who have not contributed to it before."

I can't remember if you had mentioned that this was initiated by songwriter Gretchen Peters' outrage of the use of her Independence Day song or not.

I need wizard rock! Got suggestions now that I can download stuff?

Here's my introduction to Wizard Rock post, and I also suggest that you take a look at the posts I've tagged Wizard Rock. The most recent one notes that the editor at Wizrocklopedia ([livejournal.com profile] wizrocklopedia) has put together a wizard rock starter pack. Use the player here or visit the Pack's page at Archive.org. All free. Some sucky ones are there, but some good options, too.

If you're going to buy anything, I strongly recommend the first two albums by Ministry of Magic, "The Triwizard Tournament" and "Goodbye Privet Drive." You can listen to a number of the cuts at that myspace page, so you can see what I mean. (The third CD, "Acoustiatus," re-releases a number of songs from the first two CDs in acoustic format.) You can get their albums on iTunes. Also I recommend Oliver Boyd and the Remembralls.

This should be enough to get you started! Do please let me know what you try and like!

The original was "The Homecoming Queen Has Got A Gun." I and my kids sang it endlessly after we taped it off the radio and the Dr. Demento Show.

I still have the original vinyl that song is on, "Goddess in Progress". Of course, it is somewhere in a box.
