Fundraiser for Delia's Girl Scout Troop

Delia's troop is raising money to fund a trip that the troop plans to take to Washington DC. One of the fundraisers they plan is a jewelry sale as part of the Seward Arts Festival. Delia likes making jewelry, and has made a number of the pieces that the troop will be selling. The sale will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2008 from 12pm – 5pm at 2812 - 22nd St E Minneapolis, MN. I'll post another reminder as the sale gets closer.

That's really cool! (And what an historic time to go to D.C!) My Girl Scout troop that I was with for ten years loved to travel - truth be told, by our senior year, that was most of what we did. I just thought I'd share an idea that really went a very long way to helping fund our trip to Europe. This is going to sound strange, but we sold trees. There is a group that works to reinstate the American Elm Tree (Dutch elm disease resistant!), and we figured that that'd be a way to a) help the environment and b) make some money at the same time. It's rather time intensive, because you have to raise the trees from saplings, but if the girls ever need a long-range fundraising project, it's definitely a great one. Just thought I'd pass the idea along - those Girl Scout trips and memories are truly life-changing, and I wish yours all the best.

Would Delia consider selling jewelry via the internet/her mother's blog for those of us who want to support her troop but don't live in the Twin Cities? I'm thinking that handmade necklaces might make great Christmas presents for some people. :)

I came to make this comment - or via eBay. :)

Wow, she's really talented. That amber-looking two-tiered necklace is gorgeous. Makes me wish I lived in the area, so I could buy something.

I don't know if she made that specific piece--the picture is one the troop leader sent around, and it might have been made by one of the other girls. But I've seen some of the work she's done, and it's very pretty! Delia has been taking private lessons from a jeweler for quite a few months now.
