That's pretty! As a life, and as poetry.

You should be able to use • (•) in LJ to get a bullet.

Wow. That is just... wow. Best Christmas update card EVER!

Thanks! It's a format I used once before, in 2001. It works well, I think, particularly for years where things have been kinda tough, and you really don't want to go into details.

But in so many ways, it's more intimate than just an update. It's really beautiful.

This is the most freaking awesome Christmas letter I've ever seen. I'm totally stealing this format for next year. Way to go!

We did it once before, in 2001. I think it works really well. One of my cousins liked it so well that she used it the next year.

This is such a great letter! I'm going to print it and add it to my card stack, to be sure I enjoy it next year before I write mine.

And Merry Christmas, in case our cards don't ever arrive.

Peg, you've made my day. I'm bookmarking this for those years when I'm frustrated with my family and I need inspiration and a reminder that this is what we do; this is how we love.

This has to be the most creative and interesting holiday letter I've ever seen. And you thought it was awful? I love it! It's got a rhythm and poetry, it shows all the major and minor events in your life, lets us wonder about the stories behind them (who scared the white belts? what's your apple butter recipe? why is Fiona banging her head on the furniture? :D) and smile and laugh and sigh at the more obvious references. This is a bubble of joy to read, even if not all the events referenced are joyful.

Oh, the first draft was the one I was unhappy with, and that was a much more standard one. I had sent out one very similar to the one in this post in 2001, ending with the same line, and it's just about the favorite of all the ones I've ever done. I was reluctant to do it "again," but then I figured, hey, it really is a good format, it avoids the pitfalls of most holiday letters that people joke about--it isn't too boastful or boring or give TOO much information. And yes, it really does give you a good flavor of our lives. So I'm pleased with this one.
