2024 52 Card Project: Week 47: Bluesky

This may not be of much interest to anyone who is not on social media, but:

I joined Bluesky about six months ago, but I finally decided to move to that platform permanently. I used the Skybridge tool to move my tweets over and then deleted all my tweets with Redact.

My Twitter account is now empty. I haven't deactivated it to prevent anyone from squatting on the handle. But I'll be deleting it from my phone. I'd been active on it since 2008.

Nuts to you, Elon Musk. And to all the jerks like him who ruin the homes we made for ourselves on the Internet.

I'm on Bluesky at pegkerr.bsky.social.

Here is a good article explaining this platform and why it is superior to Twitter.

Good for you! I have a blog, and visit enough websites that I don’t plan to sign up for Bluesky. I had a Twitter account, which I didn’t really use, but that was years ago. I used to think rather highly of Elon Musk, even if he had his eccentricities, but years of being a big boss with no one to tell him no appear to have taken their toll.

Isnt it funny about uprooting the homes on the internet? I am happy here at Dreamwidth, but I still mourn LJ every time I think of it. And I need to leave Facebook, but still very reluctant to leave a few communities that have not moved elsewhere.
