Introductions again

Every time my friends list tops another hundred I ask again for another quickie round of introductions. Now that there are more than three four five hundred of you (eek) reading this journal (aside from the lurkers), tell me, please, if you are so inclined: how did you find my journal? Why do you keep reading? (No need to feel obligated if you've answered this before, of course. In fact, no obligation in general. But I am nosily curious, I'll admit.) Thanks.

Hm, well you added me first during the brief time we roleplayed together.

I've very much enjoyed how you chronicle your writing process; I thank you for that.

We have several friends list folk in common, and I remembered getting a copy of your book through here for review -- though the reviewer assigned is incredibly overdue with it and I'm very cranky with her right now.

Anyway, you're a writer, I'm a writer, your journal is both fun and fascinating to read, and I look forward to reading The Wild Swans and your future books.

Basically, I like you. :)

I came to your blog 'cause I heard there was free fish here. Alas, no.

Actually, am not sure if this is de-lurking. Am sure I've commented before :)

Um, I think I probably found it through... queerasjohn, as was? I keep reading because... you're like no one else on my flist (am a sixteen year old in NZ, which may explain why). And I'm (nosily) interested.

I found your LJ through [livejournal.com profile] kalquessa. I'm pretty sure that I'd heard about The Wild Swans before I your lJ, and I didn't read it until kalquessa loaned it to me well after I'd found your LJ. I keep reading, although I lurk a lot, in part because I've been friending more writerly types on LJ lately. It's a combination of hoping that your mojo might rub off on me, trying to shame myself into writing more, and building an online network of like-minded folk. And I liked your book.

I found your journal through mizkit's friend page, but added you to mine because you are a mother of two girls, and have wonderful advice, comments and stories about that. I am raising a girl of seven alone right now, and can really relate to some of the things that you say. And some of your reactions have really helped me.
Thank you!!

Truly cannot remember if I've introduced myself before...so, I will say that I came across your journal by way of [livejournal.com profile] cedarlibrarian, and I friended you because I deeply loved The Wild Swans. I keep reading because your entries are varied and interesting. =)

I don't remember if I've answered before. I probably found your LJ through someone else's friends list. We have a lot of them in common. We also were on a panel together about Tolkien's poetry at, um, Minicon? Lke another of others above, I came because I really liked Wild Swans and stayed for everything else.

I may have answered this before, but hey, why not?

I found your journal, most likely, through [livejournal.com profile] epicyclical and was fascinated. Your writing style is clear and lovely, I really like your icons (I came aboard during the Jane Austen phase, I think), and...well, I'm fascinated by the lives of writers/authors. As someone who writes fiction for fun, the process intruiges me greatly--how do other people do it? How do they deal with this disease? And how does an author (for you are, to me) who journals reflect on their own process?

Your journal thus is continually enlightening. Thank you for keeping it! I look forward to reading your Ice Palace book. (Um, sorry if this sounds fawning and weird...it's not meant to, really.)

I think I must have found you through TNH and PNH, or Michelle Sagara.

I like reading about other writers. :)

Found your journal by poking around looking for other writers, and from recommendation by another reader who connected fantasy writing and architecture. I do both. (If you have specific professional questions on architecting, I might be able to help.)

I had the pleasure of meeting you at Nimbus when [livejournal.com profile] psychic_serpent introduced us. I loved following your entries on her flist, and when I got my own LJ account this spring, I added you to my own (with your permission, of course.) You live your life with such gentle grace, Peg (though I'm sure it doesn't always feel that way from your angle) and your entries are often like a balm on a bad day. You have a keen intelligence, but you are not jaded or cynical - how refreshing. Your day-to-day struggle to keep all of the balls in the air lets me know I'm not alone, and that it IS all worthwhile. I also enjoy reading you as a regional voice - I live about 100 miles from the Twin Cities in the northwoods of Wisconsin, and it is our closest urban center. Thanks for asking - I'm glad I got a chance to tell you.
-Mary

I found your journal through poking around other writer's journals. I have some aspiration to write one day and so I have friended some writers for inspiration. I do enjoy your posts.
:)

My radio station played it again this morning, by the way! I did a search, and it looks like you can buy it here (It's the second album down, A Cappella Head.)

[identity profile] pegkerr.livejournal.com 2004-09-27 07:11 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, thank you so much, that's very kind! The book is in the (extremely slow) formation stages, still, but I will be glad to take you up on your offer as I get going.

[identity profile] nightfalltwen.livejournal.com 2004-09-27 08:12 am (UTC)(link)
You friended me through our affiliation with [livejournal.com profile] seen_unforeseen. Not long after that, I read your book The Wild Swans, pleased to say to the librarian, "Oh yeah... I read her online journal."

me = big dork

I found your journal through [livejournal.com profile] papersky's friendslist. I read you because I'm trying to write fiction while also working a full-time job and raising a kid, so you're often talking about things that resonate with my life. (When your writing's going well, I think "hey, it's possible to write even with kids & day job!" And when your writing's going badly, I think "see, she's a pro, and she has trouble writing sometimes too; it's not just me!")

[identity profile] aeditimi.livejournal.com 2004-09-27 08:53 am (UTC)(link)
I'm pretty new, so you may remember that I found you through [livejournal.com profile] dawn_came_dim, who recommended I read your journal and get some insights into parenting, as I am expecting. I keep reading for those little insights, and because I enjoy your style and your descriptions about writing as well.

You were a guest at a convention (CONvergence) several years ago. I saw your name on a friend's list and recognized it and skimmed through.
As a stage performer/director, I love reading about a different creative process and the angst that goes with it. And your obvious joy in being a parent is quite inspirational.

[identity profile] bobhowe.livejournal.com 2004-09-27 09:20 am (UTC)(link)
Hey! Thanks for the link. Off I go...

[identity profile] shadownephilim.livejournal.com 2004-09-27 01:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Um...I'm a lurker and would be writer. I got your lj name from Sherwood Smith and I've read a few of your books and I read it because it's interesting? Lol.

I don't remember how I got to your LJ! I remember friending you because you wrote something about Lois McMaster Bujold, but how I got there in the first place TO read it, I have no idea. But I just like your journal, lice and all. Wait -- let me rephrase that. *g* Actually, I read your posts about your poor daughters' lice with a kind of horrified nostalgia; I *had* lice once when I was about their age. So did my brother & sister. So reading about it from a mother's point of view was, well, agonizing, actually! My sister and I had long hair, which my mother never did cut, and ugh -- well, you know.

I'm sure I'm making a good impression here. *g*

I also appreciate your sharing your writing woes. I did Nanowrimo last year (and plan to do it again!) and am bogged down in the novel, probably because I bit off more than I could chew. But, following your example, this weekend I took it out and GLARED at it for a while. Didn't get much writing done on it, but I felt better!

I'm embarrassed to say I've never read your books -- but I'm putting them on my list.

I fell in love with Emerald House Rising years ago (it's on my desert island list of books) :) (p.s. Any chance ever of a sequel? I want to know what happens next with Jena and Bran!)

Hello, Peg. This is Linda Westby formerly from Hope Lutheran Church. I started reading your livejournal because you gave the address in your Christmas newsletter, and have been reading ever since. I enjoy reading about your writing progress, as well as about Fiona and Delia. You were the reason I started my own livejournal in fact. I've also read a few of your friend's journals, and I guess I could use some LJ friends! So feel free to read mine if you want as well as anyone else out there. Warning: it is a college student's livejournal so some of the subjects may not be of interest to you!

When I wrote EHR, I had hazy plans to write a book for each of the houses, and end with an eighth book about the Diamond Throne. However, my imagination seems to have run out of ideas for the time being. I did start writing another book in that world, but the next one I tried was a prequel, with different characters. I got about eighty pages in, and it just stalled. I don't have any immediate plans to go back to work in that world, but never say never! Perhaps I will pick it up again someday. Thanks for writing.
