I answered these questions on cruisedirector's LJ, so I sorta feel obligated to ask them in my own; turnabout is fair play. (I usually do a variation on this when my friends list pops up another hundred or so. So I'm early this time. Humor me.)

One more thing before I go to bed for the night:

1. I added you to my friends list in August of this year.

2. I found your LJ through kalquessa. I think I added you to my friends list while I was reading The Wild Swans -- which I still have to give back to kalquessa!

3. The posts that spring most readily to mind are actually the ones about your girls, although I 'friended' you because you're a successful writer and have this idea that if I can surround myself with successful writers and editors maybe some of your mojo will rub off on me, I keep finding myself wanting to connect on a more personal level.

5. I'm painfully shy. If I bumped into you at a Con, and recognized you, I'd likely stutter and struggle to say something semi-intelligent and fail in utter agony. That's what I like about LJ, I can make connections with Scary New People from the comfort of my own home, and I can pretend like I'm not shy. :)

6. You're on my Default View, but I have to admit I even skim that some times. I keep telling myself that I'm going to prune my friends list so that I can actually read and respond to every post of every person on my list, but it keeps growing instead and I keep skimming.

7. We're both interested in contemporary fantasy, folklore and literary fantasy. And we're both interested in karate.

I wasn't on LJ at the time, so I've only just seen the post myself -- thank you for linking to it!

I found, myself, that the early years of receiving compliments on my writing were sort of hard because I never knew what to say back. I mean, beyond Thank You, or I'm glad you enjoyed it, but they seemed so very formal to me, and I'm not terribly formal otherwise. And yes, it's probably the only time I run out of words <wry g>.
