Anyone have a copy of this?

I was doing a Google ego scan and ran across this reference to an apparent academic article, in a list of references for those studying Angels in America (which I still haven't seen):

Knabe, Susan. "Viral Migrations: Fairy Tales of Family and Nation, Death and Disease." Foundation: The International Review of Science Fiction, 31:86 (2002 Autumn), pp. 76-85.
compared to Geoff Ryman; Was; Peg Kerr; The Wild Swans

Am intrigued and would like to read the article. Anyone have this periodical in a stack in their bedroom by any chance? (Yeah, I could just go to the library . . .)

The reference librarian in me had to look and see if we have this title and it looks like we do (at least according to our online catalog). It's at the main library, which is where I spend half my time, so I can go and make copies of the article for you if you'd like. :D

I would appreciate it very much if you would be willing to do so! Or could you .pdf it and then e-mail it, perhaps, to save you the trouble of mailing it? If you copy it, I'd be happy to reimburse you for the cost of copying it. Let me know. Thanks.

My university doesn't subscribe to it, unfortunately.

AIA

I forget if I mentioned this, but a few months back I rented the DVDs of Angels In America, loved it, and went right out & bought the script of both plays. If you're interested I'd be happy to lend them to you.

Don't kick yourself about not having seen it yet. It took me a couple of months of eying the DVD at my video place (heck, it took me nearly a year after I bought And The Band Played On to work up the guts to read it), but I allow myself a lot of latitude around AIDS stuff - and I think you deserve the same.

You know, I seem to recall Carol Kennedy saying something about her wanting to see AIA but not feeling quite up to it. Maybe we should set up a veiwing get together sometime.

Nope

Don't have the article but I did get to see the off-braodway opening run here in Seattle for the play. 2 amazing nights, doubt the movie could do it justice.

I'll be probably be in the minority with this, but I loved part I of _Angels in America_ and strongly disliked part II--both on stage and on screen, though the HBO version has some beautiful acting (it loses some of the consensual-surrealism of stage, but it probably can't be helped). I think it treats one of its characters badly in a non-justifiable way.

(I still have notes from watching it on HBO, and someday in my copious free time I shall write it up properly.)

Just curious

Which character? Personally, I didn't like how the Joe (the closeted Morman guy) just kind of disappeared. What was the rest of his story?

Joe it was. More detail is probably spoilers, alas.

Well, I'm certainly pleased that you have decided to give LiveJournal a try. I hope you have as good a time with it as I have. Welcome!

I imagine you have poked around the site a bit already, if you've been reading for a few years, but you should at least check out the Newbie's Lounge, which is a good place to get basic questions answered.
