Melinda Henneberger: Overturning the Gospels

Katrina has reminded us that Christian morality should be about responding to the wretched and loving the unlovable—not about other people’s sex lives.
I still dare to hope Democrats may yet remember why they are Democrats, though. And that would be a real come-to-Jesus moment.

I have now seen in at least three places people pointing out that morals are not the exclusive property of far-right conservatives, that those who oppose them need to say loud and clear that we do so in response to *our* moral values.

I've seen at least three, which given the connective nature of the web means there are probably fifty or a hundred or a thousand people saying that thing. And you know what that looks like? That looks like a movement, and that's just what it is, the Alice's Restaurant Anti-Massacree Movement.

Get over it! You are the typical american twisting God's words or making it sound the way you want HIS words to say! The bible clearly states... "NO WORK, NO FOOD" Why should we support people who are too lazy to get a job and work? Why should we raise their children just because they want to spread their legs instead of working to support themselves?! Why do you say Christian nation when it clearly isn't. A christian nation wouldn't allow sex before marriage, adultry, abortions. A christian nation wouldn't fight every decent avenue that good people want for their children. Who are you to say a christian should ignore all the evil and embrace and support the evil people who put themselves in the bad situation? Go read a bible and you will see for your self! If the sinner will not turn from their ways, then we are to stay away from them. Why must this nation use blinders? Because the nation wants to think they are better than other nations. The USA wants to meddle in foreign countries and turn them to our ways....corrupt and sinful!! The USA needs to stop being pharasees and clean up their own act. God allows things to happen for a reason, apparently no one learned from the 911 problem. A week later people were back acting rude and sinful" It's all about me and mine" syndrome!! Get over yourself and read a bible before you go off ignorantly.

Would you care to support "No work, no food" with biblical quotations? From the Gospels would be best, of course.
