Lunchtime haiku

Twigs, barren of buds
As the breeze tosses branches
The shadows tremble

Love this.

Peg, how about a Fib (http://gottabook.blogspot.com/2006/04/more-fibbery.html) instead of a haiku? :-)

Twigs.
Buds?
Not yet --
Soon, I hope.
The shadows tremble
As the breeze tosses the branches.

*wonders why Peg is applauding when she wrote 75% of the words* :-)

Now all we need is for [livejournal.com profile] papersky to come along and turn it into a sonnet.

Ay me! You want me to take your beautifully observed image and turn it into some periphrastic bombast?

You need two thoughts or an argument for a sonnet. The sestet should always start with a literal or metaphorical "but".

I would really like to learn how to write sonnets. I mean, I understand their structure, and I enjoy them enormously, but I don't think I've ever written a successful one. I don't consider myself a poet. But I'm trying to see what might happen if I try writing shorter poems regularly, i.e., haiku.

Off topic, but do you remember posting a link to the contest winners of the Pioneer Press Peeps Diorama contest, once upon a time? I can't find a link for the life of me.

Don't remember that. I may have posted a link to the Lord of the Peeps, a long time ago.
