Saw my coworker who lost his house today

Today, I saw the attorney whose entire house went up in flames last week, as I posted about here. He seemed oddly relaxed and cheerful, actually (still in shock perhaps?) They did have one bit of real luck: a portion of the roof collapsed on top of and protected a cache of photographs, so they were able to retrieve 3,500 photographs, untouched, which was a big relief. He remarked that he still doesn't have any clothes--in fact, the outfit he was wearing was donated by a neighbor. He and his wife are staying at the home of her uncle and aunt, who are snowbirds whose winter home is only 1/4 of a mile away. They will be able to stay there for a few more weeks, and then they will have to find some other arrangement.

That's good about the photos, though. That's the sort of thing that I tend to think about when I worry about my house burning down...what about all my family things?
