E-mail is transitioning

Our internet service provider got swallowed by a bigger fish, and so we are changing e-mail addresses. We've tried to set up the new accounts, but the system tells us that it'll be twenty-four hours before everything transitions over. And then we have to get the accounts to accept passwords and figure out the pop-mail server and la de da . . . bottom line is that it'll be a day or two before I can send or receive e-mail.

Why not use your domain name?

That's been down for two months. I keep poking DDB about it, but nothing's been done. I need to poke him again.

Or check in with Laurel, who know all about cheapy domain hosting. Maybe you ought to move from DDB's server, as the Minnstf lists have done.

Could you use some Gmail accounts?

I have email on my domain set up through Google Apps for Your Domain, otherwise known as GMail. :-) I really like the results. It's beta, so it's not completely safe, but I haven't had any issues....

I'll third the suggestion for Gmail. In and of itself it's the most useful email organizing tool I've seen and it plays nicely with other services, both its own and those of others.

another gmail fan here. It's kind of like wearing a kilt. Free and easy.
