Late night
I worked quite last night, until 10:30 p.m. Since I don't have lights on my bike, the firm paid for me to take a cab home. The attorney for whom I was working chivalrously escorted me downstairs to wait for it.
"You know, you don't have to wait with me for the cab," I told him when we got down to the street. "It'll be along in a moment, and the security guard is right there inside the door."
"Oh, I'm not going to leave you out alone on the street, Peg," he protested.
"Well," I told him diffidently, "of course if anyone hassles me, I can just kick them in the head."
He laughed. "That's right. Maybe you should be protecting me."
