More re book planning/plotting

[livejournal.com profile] kijjohnson wrote an interesting entry here on her use of post-it notes to plot her novels. Hmm. I may try this, too.

After I finish the book I'm reading (Cornwell's Sharpe's Prey), I think I'm going to dive back into full time research reading. My back brain is indicating increasing willingness to turn my full attention to the book. I'm certainly thinking about it more. Alas, HPEF is eating up an increasing amount of time. Hope that after the 31st that can be put back on the back burner for awhile.

I imagine that when ROTK comes out in December, that'll be a terrible distraction, too. We also have a week-long trip scheduled in November to go to see my father-in-law for the last time. But otherwise, yes, I'm starting to get back into that write-that-book mindset.

This is good.

I am listening to the unabridged audio book of ROTK (that way I can read and drive at the same time) ... wow, it is better than I remember. It has made me cry a couple of times. I can't wait for the movie, especially for the Eowyn scene that every strong woman is looking forward to.

Speaking of research reading, ever come across a good resource on the U. S. NAVY (and the day-to-day lives of navy families, specifically)?

It's obscure, but I thought I'd ask.

My go-to site for information on anything on the Internet is refdesk.com. Search for "Navy Families" there and you get this page, which I see, for example, includes a site called Sgt. Mom's Place, a site for military families.

I can always, always, always find anything I need with refdesk.com. Hope this helps.

Me, I'd just ask [livejournal.com profile] jbru what he remembers about being a Navy brat.

YMMV.
