Should I or shouldn't I?

Hmm. I just discovered The Noble Collection on line. I am eyeing the Elven Leaf Brooch covetously.

(For those who don't know, this brooch is a replica of the ones worn by the characters in the Lord of the Rings movie and yes, it figures in the plot.]

Yes, my husband needs to find a job. But on the other hand, both my parents and my in-laws sent me birthday checks, which would more than cover the cost. So . . . should I or shouldn't I? I'm taking a poll.

(But I have a hunch I'm going to decide yes. Tell me to go for it.)

It's lovely, and you should allow your family to buy it for you with their generous birthday present checks.

K. [that's what they're for, not for a new pair of nylons, a tank of gas, and the phone bill]

*dies*

I would kill for one of those... so my answer is of course "YES, you should!"

Do it. When things are rough, splurging feels good...like in A Tree Grows in Brooklyn.

Yes! I want one! I can't afford one, but I want one, so yes, get it. Someone should.

When I first found the website with the jewellery a few months back, I wished it were *my* birthday so I would have some sort of excuse for the indulgence.... I was coveting Arwen's "evenstar" brooch as well as the leaf brooch. I then tracked down the One Ring (and the others in the Applause set eventually) and theoretically now have Total Power *g*, but more importantly, authentic looking Elvish engraving! For me, it has been literally decades of loving LotR, so the movie, merchandise etc was very welcome. No question about it, buy yourself the brooch and enjoy it, you deserve to!

Megan
(and good luck for Rob in the job search - perhaps the brooch will bring good fortune to the household)

Well, you've talked me into it!

I just placed the order on line. Didn't take much arm twisting. I think I'm really going to enjoy it. I think it's just beautiful.

Sounds like we're all a bad influence.

Excellent....
