Great pictures! We didn't celebrate Santa Lucia (we always said Santa Lucia the Italian way, never St. Lucia) until my sister became interested. Prior to that, I think my Norwegian mother made a point not to follow a Swedish tradition.

Like Delia, my sister is the younger one. She got the honors because today is her birthday, and I was too old, anyway.

A Happy Santa Lucia Day and a God Jul to you and yours, as well, Peg. We don't keep the wake-up ceremony at our house, but my grandmother's candle chimes will be tinkling merrily in the background at dinner tonight, and my dahla horses will be the centerpiece at the table.
