Missed the groundbreaking
Okay, I screwed up. They have already had the groundbreaking ceremony for the ice palace they're going to build this year. And I missed it. Apparently, it was held on September 10! They are starting to break ground already because they have to place the concrete pilings and electric cables for the light and sound system. I missed the announcement because it was in the St. Paul paper, not the Minneapolis paper. Damn, damn, damn!
I promised
kijjohnson I will track down and call the architect by Wednesday. Hold me to it, folks. I imagine he'll be a little surprised to get the call saying, "I'm writing a novel where the heroine is the architect who designs the St. Paul Winter Carnival ice palace, and I was wondering you'd be willing to meet with me."

He'll probably be flattered.

But this means that the design would need to be finalized really early. Hope that doesn't screw up your plot too much!

The best part? His name was...wait for it...Sgt. Jim Longerbone.
Yep. Longerbone. The sort of name that you'd never get away with in fiction. I love it.

Good luck in your meeting with the architect!
