Ow.

Consider my last half week:

Brown belt test, advanced division
Continuing with 100 pushups challenge
Sparring
Biking to and from work
Spin kicks practice at karate tonight, and yes, as it ALWAYS does, the tornado kick wrenched my inner groin muscles
continue (fruitlessly) trying to stretch out my super tight hamstring muscles

It is no wonder that if Rob didn't have to have the car tomorrow to take the girls to the orthodontist, I would be driving to work. Because, damn, I hurt all over. And tomorrow I'm expecting girly cramps. I've sure been putting my body through a lot lately. I think it's trying to tell me that really, enough is enough.

Could Rob maybe drive you to work? Because yes, you need recovery days now and then - in my experience, for both mental AND physical recovery.

One thing I wonder about that 100 pushups thing: it's clearly not a complete workout regimen, just a way to be able to do more pushups - or, to be fair, to push more weight with your arms. I can see you're getting plenty of exercise for your whole body. I'm sure there are people who are doing it who weren't exercising at all before, and that can only help. I do worry a little about people in the middle, who are building one set of muscles and not the balancing ones.

Alas, he can't. He has to take the girls in the opposite direction from downtown for an orthodontist appointment at 8:00.

Crap, and now I've woken up and it's thundering out. I'm going to get soaked.

Dammit, dammit, dammit. He needs to get a car.

I have to say that I admire the heck out of you. I really plan to try the 100 pushup challenge when I'm not pushing up for two :).

My last two periods I have been taking Pycnogenol capsules (bought the cheapest kind I could find at the health store) and they work amazingly well on my girly cramps. Better than motrin or midol or anything else.
(When my cramps are really bad I can't even walk, so this has been a godsend)

"Because, damn, I hurt all over. And tomorrow I'm expecting girly cramps."

Have you noticed that your pain threshold is lower the week before your period? I was never aware of this until I studied karate. Because I was doing essentially the same set of things week after week, it was suddenly clear that everything that could possibly be perceived as painful or uncomfortable hurt MORE at certain times of the month. It was equally true of discomforts suffered during class (like standing in a horse stance for a minute) and sore muscles afterwards.

On the plus side, the 2nd day of my period my brain would be flooded with endorphins and nothing hurt. I kinda miss that.
