Why we need health care reform

poor_skills and post there pretty often, too. There are a lot of good tips for living frugally, and you can get a lot of great advice from people who are working hard at finding a way to thrive without much money.
This story absolutely broke my heart. The person who posted the story created her journal in order to ask her question. What is particularly awful is what she chose for her user name:
ashamedmomtobe. She's ashamed that she got pregnant and now can't figure out how to pay for the c-section she needs to save her life. Never mind that she was on the pill when she got pregnant. Never mind that her husband was told he had a new job so they moved away from their home and her doctor, and when they got to the new location, the job evaporated. Never mind that they were rejected for Medicaid and COBRA would be $2,000 a month. Never mind that she has a disability. Somehow, she thinks, it's her fault.
The people commenting have been very kind to her. I hope that she gets the help she needs.
Man, this shouldn't happen in a civilized country.
