What they said then, and what they say now. This is absolutely hilarious, and absolutely devastating. Jon Stewart brilliantly demonstrates, in the conservatives' own words (Rove, O’Reilly, Dick Morris, even Palin herself), how the conservative defense of Sarah Palin is totally contradicted by the things they've said previously. Cross-post this, PLEASE. People need to see it. Link from [livejournal.com profile] landerson, via [livejournal.com profile] cakmpls.

Edited to add: [livejournal.com profile] piccolo_pirate said that the wrong link was displayed on their friends page, so if you click it and don't see the video "Sarah Palin Gender Card," you can find it by going to this link: http://www.comedycentral.com/videos/index.jhtml?videoId=184086

Watch it, and let me know what you think.

For some reason on my friends page, it shows up as the wrong segment - but when I view the page on your journal (I went to post, as a friendly lurker, the link to the segment I thought you wanted), I can see the one you meant - the "Gender Card" segment rather than the one about the Larry Craig bathroom stalls. I wonder if this happens on anyone else's friends page?

Yes, sometimes YouTube will mess up if there's more than one video embedded on a friendspage.

Thanks for letting me know. I've gone back to add to my entry, giving the URL link, so if people can find it that way, if the correct video isn't displaying for them for some reason.

The scary thing is I doubt this will hit home to any of the people actually saying these things. It's obviously totally different!

Brilliant, as always. And yes, devastating. This show, especially when skewering politics and elections, always makes me laugh--and feel despairing--all in one. I adore The Daily Show and Jon Stewart.

Jon rocks my world. I prefer to get my news from him, actually. His staff is brilliant at finding out examples of doublespeak. Of course, the conservatives are all whining about the "liberal" media but, um, it's in the people's own words so you can't really argue with that.

I got an email from my aunt this morning all about OMG SARAH PALIN IS THE BEST THING EVAR!!! I didn't even reply. Just rolled my eyes and deleted it. I can't change her mind, and she won't be respectful of my political beliefs. I try to at least be respectful, you know? I have several conservatives on my flist but they're cool people and they know how I feel.
