If you were to spot me being hauled off in a police car, what would you suspect was my "crime"?

Murder, actually. But it would go to trial and they'd rule that you were acting in defense of one of your daughters, and they'd let you go. (Unlikely, though, given your daughters' own defense skills.)

Beating your husband with a squeaky vegetable (the eighty-four zillionth time he wouldn't eat the dinner you made).

Yeah, something food-related was the first one that came to mind for me, too...

Beating up someone you caught gay-bashing. (I'd say 'picking on your daughters' but they could probably defend themselves just fine.)

Depositing your husband and children on the curb with a "free to good home" sign for not helping around the house more.

Otherwise, I'm going to suggest that you karate-chopped a smart-ass plainclothes policeman. Whoops!

I immediately thought civil disobedience in some support for civil rights, further imagining you roundhouse kicking some smart-ass counter protestor.
Oh, and it was a perfect roundhouse at that.

You jumped out of a car to help someone being attacked by homophobic thugs, and got picked up in the sweep while they try to figure it all out.

Either inappropriate karate reflexes or possibly at a protest.

My assumption would be that you were being pulled in with some kind of sweep regarding illicit legal dealings within the law office you work in- pulled in for questioning, and needing to clarify that you weren't involved (unless you are one of those caught red-handed frantically shredding!).

Well, I wouldn't REALLY think that, but I would wonder (not assume) if it was tied into something at your office.

Civil disobedience seems likely - although I have to admit, my first thought was of the episode of Boston legal where Jerry, who has simply *had enough*, refuses to back down from a bully in the coffee shop. He closes his eyes and puts up his fists. When the bully runs into his fist while attempting to hit him, he then sues....
