I use handkerchiefs as well, but I've gotten mine over the years at estate sales, which had been mentioned in the earlier post. I've found that if you wash them in the machine, it's a good idea to put them in a pillowcase or something. Otherwise, they may get lost. A repair man showed me how most top load washers have space at the top of the tub, and small items can go over and down the drain. This is also what can happen to socks. Look at your washing machine and see if there's a gap at the top.
