Guys, I was so heartsick yesterday that I went away from the computer yesterday afternoon and last night, and I've just now found out what the friends on my friends list have been busily doing on my family's behalf. Believe me, I didn't make my post yesterday with any such object in mind.

You've been so generous to us in the past, so this was truly kindness unlooked for. Thank you--we couldn't have come close to replacing the bikes without this, and now we will be able to. Thanks in particular to serene (serenejournal) for organizing this on our behalf.

I don't want to always be taking. I hope that what I do in my own life (and in this journal) will pay it forward many times over. Anyway, you can all check this off for your 'decrease worldsuck' contribution for the day.

P.S.: We'll probably hold off on buying new bikes, about a month or so, in the hopes that the Minneapolis Police Department might pick the bikes up (we've turned in their serial numbers, and they say they pick up bikes every day). We'll also keep an eye on Craig's list, in case the tortfeasors try to turn a profit on them over there.

Or you could go ahead and buy bikes and then donate them if the others show up. (I think your plan is also a good one; just thinking aloud, as it were.)
