This is not starting out as a good day

pegkerrFiona's still at the emergency room, with Rob. She has been out of school all week, and sick since last Thursday. She had a negative strep test on Monday. She got hives, inexplicably, on Tuesday. We gave her some Benedryl, and that seemed to help temporarily, but she woke me up early this morning, saying the hives were back, and her tongue and lips were swollen and it was getting difficult to swallow. No known allergens.
The ER doctor said hives might be from an infection, so she's being tested for mono; we're still waiting to hear the result. Right now she's hooked up with an IV, getting fluids, as well as steroids and benedryl to calm the hives down.
And Delia's sick at home, and she's already missed SO much school this year. If Fiona's got mono, it could be that Delia has it too.
Gah. I'd already told the family that we wouldn't be celebrating my birthday this year and I didn't expect any gifts, since we're so broke. But I don't think we'll even be able to go out to dinner.
