My first gray hair!

While doing a headcheck on me tonight, Rob said, "Hey, here's a gray hair."

"Really?" I exclaimed. "Let me see it."

So he pulled it out and gave it to me. Sure enough, instead of my usual chestnut brown, it was a lovely silver. "Wow."

"It sure is pretty," Fiona remarked. I agreed. I like gray.

My first gray hair. I'm so proud. I taped it into my paper journal.

Mer. I was finding my first gray hairs around age 27-28. Given that both of my parents grayed late, I was most displeased. Have dark brown hair - every one shows up. At least to me. However, I'm not vain enough to dye or pluck them - I just turn into a martyr. "No, that's all right; I'll just suffer..." ;-)

I'm glad you wrote this. I'm almost 32 and finding more grey than I care to describe. But it does not bother me. Other people mind it more than me.

I dunno whether or not you're older than I am, but with two kids, a marriage, and at least one book written, I'd say you're well overdue! I remember getting my first one. Now I sort of look forward to them. They're like instant respectability.

I got my first gray hair sometime in my mid-30's. My then-boyfriend found it and pulled it out. I was mightily peeved as it was not only silver, but was also curly (I have terminally straight hair).

My plan is to live to be 300 years old and then I will have curly hair. Until then, I have straight, boring, brown hair.

Hey! Me too! Except I started getting grey hairs when I was about 15, and as far as I can tell, only two of them are curly. Crinkly, really. They go \/\/\/\/\/ :)

Heh. At least you didn't do what my mother did when she started to go grey. She came into my room bearing a tweezers, a couple of grey upstarts clenched in their jaws, and said "See what you've done?!?!?"

I've begun to go grey, albeit in small doses. I really like it. Occasionally I jokingly blame it on my cats.

curiousangel found my first gray hair when I was 26, and since then I've found the occasional one. It's only been since I turned 30 in October that I've started seeing multiple gray hairs at once.

Like you, I think my gray/silver hairs are awfully pretty. I don't ever think I'll dye them.

Heh, I got my first gray at 21. I thought I'd be freaked out but you're right, they are oddly pretty. I have two now, and I'm 26, so I'm doing okay I guess!

Lordy. I'm 33 and I have a silver streak; I started getting my first grey hairs in my early 20s. You must have amazing genetics!

Gracious. I thought you were very slightly older than me (just turned 40) and I've had grey hairs for a few years. (Or am I slightly older than you? Forgetting now...) Anyway, what took you so long? ;) Your kids must be too well-behaved. (I swear that 50% of mine are kid-related. The other half were HPFGU-related. I've only been getting half as many since I stopped that last August. ) Perhaps dealing with the combination of shingles, lice and trying to get some writing done, plus the Big Trial finally did it.

I think silver is pretty too and don't plan to do any dying. Right now, however the silver just looks like sun highlights. I don't have anything like a critical mass of grey yet. Yours will probably take a while if you just found your first one! Welcome to the club!

I finally resorted to highlights to cover up the greys. It's a caramel color and really works well and looks great ...not too wild. But you won't need that until you can't pull all of them out anymore. :)

I'll be forty-four on my next birthday, which is coming up this month. My mom and grandmother both grayed late, and since they both had blakc hair, it looked fabulous. "Sable silvered," as Shakespeare put it.

Hrm. So I started turning all gray in my beard a few years ago. Now I'm finding them in my chest-hair. Seems to have started on the bottom half of my face and is slipping downward...

i have like 5 gray hairs and i got black hair and im 14 hahahahaha weird. i would look weird with all grey hair
