Tonight, after Fiona watched me get ready to go to the A.S. Byatt lecture (Rob's manager let him come home long enough for me to attend, yay), she said primly, "You look very interesting, Mommy."

And Rob told me tonight, "I guess that haircut looks okay."

Edited to add Rob said (indignantly):" I'm being slandered. I know I used the word 'attractive.' I think you look beautiful."

Well, okay.

Rob doesn't know what he's talking about - you look fabulous. ;)

(You probably have no memory of me; I was at Nimbus and met you briefly through mutual friends, hence the friending. I just got a look at that picture, though, and it's great.)

It's just taking them time to get used to it. You look fantastic with that haircut.

Still better than the response I got from Andy last time I cut mine, which was: "It'll grow back."

I did, of course, point out that indeed mine would grow back though there wasn't much hope for his poor bald head. One of the few times the comeback didn't occur to me *after* he left the room. :)

Men always prefer long hair - they think - it's some sort of primal caveman instinct; the better to drag you back to the cave with.

I keep mine shoulder-length because too long overpowers my features. My husband would like it to be long enough to wrap around my body and ride a la Lady Godiva. I think it's some kind of trophy thing (my woman's hair is longer than your woman's hair! *thumps chest*)

You look fabulous. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise :)

I think the 'cut makes you look magnificent -- sharp, capable and pretty all in one go.

They'll get used to it, just give them time.

Whoah. Total babe. Total.

E,
incoherently,
after trying to decide between that response and "Ooh! Shiny!"
They are, of course, both highly favorable reactions.
