Some quick market research
Sep. 12th, 2002 10:40 pmI've done a quick search on Amazon, out of curiosity, and didn't turn up much under either Ice Palace or The Frost King. Good. I can stake out my territory here.
I do think this is a viable idea, and plan to play with it further.
Thinking more about calling up Minnesota creatures from the vasty deep. I was trying to think of what that idea reminded me of, and I hit upon it today: the scene in So You Want to Be a Wizard by Diane Duane (lovely book, by the way), when Kit and Nina call up the powers of New York City, and all the statues in Central Park come to life to help them fight the enemy. What a great idea that was. I always loved that chapter. (Although I'll admit that in that series Deep Wizardry was my favorite.)
Tomorrow,
kijjohnson is driving up from Rice Lake, Wisconsin and kidnapping me. We're going to check into a cheap hotel and talk as late as we want (and I'll undoubtedly take a VERY long shower). Perhaps we'll brainstorm a bit on this book for me. And then we'll be at the gates of the Minnesota Renaissance Festival right when it opens and we'll play there all day Saturday. Can't wait.
Cheers,
Peg
