pegkerr: (Both the sweet and the bitter)
I have discovered, in the last three days, that I am really addicted to sugar. I particularly crave something sweet at midmorning, just after lunch, and just after dinner. I've stuck religiously to my resolve (so far), but it has been awfully difficult. I'm trying to string myself along with fruit, superior coffee and naturally sweet teas.

In a way, discovering the depth of my addiction has, oddly enough, strengthened my resolve, because I value self-control highly, and I don't want to "give in." There's also a simple intellectual curiousity. Will the cravings continue? Will they get worse? Will my sense of taste change, as I get used to less sugar? Will I eventually learn to be satisfied with things that are less sweet? Will I lose weight?

Or am I torturing myself for nothing?

I am soooooo tempted.

It's almost close enough to not be a totally mad idea.

But probably less mad to just buy the symphony on CD, if it is ever released. Has anyone heard whether it will be?

Wednesday on my workout rotation is cardio and abs. Perhaps in an effort to exorcise the sugar cravings, I decided to practically kill myself when I got home from work by doing a super workout. I did three moduals, kickboxing, bootcamp, and interval training, about 45 minutes of cardio in all. And I did the most brutal ab workout I have, Day 4 from FIRM's 5 day abs, and perhaps [livejournal.com profile] cedarlibrarian is the only one on my friends list who can appreciate exactly what a victory it is that I got through almost the entire thing, all except for the leg-walk bit at the end). Which is the first time that has happened in the year since I bought it. (Any of the others of you out there do FIRM too?)

Go me.

Thrown together out of desperation:

I took about a tablespoon of orange juice concentrate and mixed it with quick oats, wheat germ, about a tablespoon of melted butter, cinnamon and nutmeg and a few chopped pecans. Put this crumble mixture over several canned peach halves and microwaved for two minutes. I gave Rob his with ice cream on top, but I ate mine without the a la mode finish.

Pretty good.
