This was the month for froth:

Georgette Heyer Sprig Muslin. First time read.

Georgette Heyer The Masqueraders. Re-read.

Georgette Heyer Beauvallet. Re-read.

Georgette Heyer Cousin Kate. Re-read.

Okay, this wasn't frothy:

John Micklethwait and Adrian Wooldridge The Right Nation: Conservative Power in America. First time read. This was a loan from [livejournal.com profile] minnehaha B and K. Eye-opening and immensely depressing.

Charles Dickens A Christmas Carol. Re-read.

Georgette Heyer. Footsteps in the Dark. First time read.

Monica Ferris. Crewel World. Re-read.

Monica Ferris. Framed in Lace. Re-read.

Monica Ferris. A Stitch in Time. Re-read.

Monica Ferris. Unraveled Sleeve. Re-read.

Monica Ferris. A Murderous Yarn. First time read.

Monica Ferris. Hanging By a Thread. First time read.

Monica Ferris. Cutwork. First time read.

Richard Purtill. Lord of the Elves and Eldils: Fantasy and Philosophy in C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien. First time read. This book, a Christmas present from [livejournal.com profile] kijjohnson, was quite interesting (but then I'm always a sucker for literary analysis of the Inklings). I did violently disagree with some of his points (i.e.: "Tolkien's fiction is not the sort that lays bare the human heart" and "in Tolkien, there is no such thing as an evil elf"), although I had fun arguing with him in my mind. But perhaps it isn't really his fault on that last one because he wrote it before The Silmarillion came out.

[livejournal.com profile] naomikritzer wrote a long and thoughtful response to my earlier post about going through clothes and discarding stuff with Fiona. Thanks, Naomi.
