pegkerr: (Fiona and Delia)
Delia was in a frisky mood last night. When she came to say good night, she put her arms around my neck, hopped up and wrapped her legs around my waist and kissed me. "I love you, Mommy."

I kissed her back. "I love you, too, Doodle."

She laughed, hugged me and squeezed.

Oh. My. God!

With all those karate lessons, my daughter has adductors of steel. She damn near sliced me in half with those legs. I just couldn't believe it.

Out of curiosity, I had Fiona try it, too. I barely survived the experience.

My new nickname for them: Nutcracker Legs.

I got this from [livejournal.com profile] lifehacker_rss, which got it from Curbly here:

Love those magnetic poetry sets? Curbly shows you how to whip up one of your own.

All you need is one of those magnetic calendars that tend to show up in the mailbox this time of year, plus a sheet of Avery labels. Print, stick, cut and you're done. It's a fast, fun, why-didn't-I-think-of-that kind of project.

As one of Curbly's commenters mentioned, you can save a step (and get better overall results) with an inkjet-compatible magnetic sheet, which is printable on one side. Staples, for example, has a four-pack, enough to make a boatload of magnetic words, for $11.98.
