Edited to add:cheshyre also pointed to a post by stewardess here which attempts to piece together a timeline of what happened. stewardess's theory is that SixApart's actions stemmed from their plans for an IPO for LiveJournal. I don't know how accurate, frankly, these speculations are, but it's certainly an interesting theory.
