Back on the bike
Jun. 26th, 2007 08:31 amToday marks three weeks since my operation, so my restriction on lifting weight over ten pounds is lifted. I have no immediate plans to move a lot of furniture, but I am moving back to more of my usual activity, which means that instead of having Rob drive me to work today, I pulled my bags together and got the bike out of the garage.
I didn't ride it all the way in. Instead, I rode the bike to the rail station, took the bike on the train, and then rode from the downtown stop to my office. Everything went just fine--no pain or strain. The only discovery is that the weather has shifted enough in the three weeks I've been off the bike that I need to pull together a riding outfit that is much cooler than the one I've been using (T-shirt and knit pants).
I'll probably continue to take the bike on the train this week and will not attempt the full ride until next week. It is a relief to get moving again, though: I was afraid that I would lose too much stamina and muscle tone if I waited much longer.
