Worn out

I'm just tired. Bone-tired. More than physically, really. Soul-tired. I've decided to give myself a break today and do some things I don't ordinarily allow myself.

I'm going to drive to work. I'm going to stop at Tillie's Bean and get a cold press coffee with chocolate syrup added. I'm going to go out to lunch, possibly to Wilde Roast, and get a hot grilled tuna fish sandwich.

It really says something about my ordinary life that this feels like unbelievably decadent luxury.

(You are welcome to leave a comment suggesting other [low-budget] ways that I can pamper myself.)

Get a load of this particular hobbyhorse.

Not content with the critical skills offered by Michael O'Brien, that "foremost Harry Potter critic" (see here) Lifesite helpfully publishes another essay with this fascinating hypothesis:
We wish to hypothesize that the popularity of the Harry Potter series is due to the fact that the themes and the main character strike deep chords in the minds of our younger generation because they are abortion survivors.
Read the rest here.

Really, there are no words.

(Well, maybe you have some. Let 'er rip.)

I've been sitting on this news for a week, just about ready to bust with excitement, but I've been waiting for details to be worked out before letting you all know.

Long time readers of this journal may remember that when the girls and I were all taking karate lessons together, it was because sensei had pulled some strings and cobbled together a scholarship that let me take lessons for a year. When that scholarship was over, I was forced to stop, letting only Fiona and Delia continue.

Well, miracles do happen. Another scholarship has unexpectedly materialized, and due to this generous opportunity, I am going to be able to continue for two and a half years, all the way to black belt.

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN,
I AM GOING FOR BLACK BELT!!!

*Screams with joy*

When I learned about the karate scholarship last week, I did a tarot reading. The results were certainly in line with my good news:

I did the Setting A Goal Spread: What do I need to know about going for black belt? I used my Jane Austen tarot deck and decided before doing the spread that I would ignore reversals. Setting A Goal spread )

This reading definitely suggests "Go for it!"

Comments are welcome, esp. about the Temperance~Strength/Justice~Weakness dichotomy. Thanks.

In my last post, I posted a vid created by [livejournal.com profile] chaeche. I've since realized that her journal is friends-only, and I shouldn't have posted it without her permission, and so I've locked it for now. I've sent her a request for permission to re-post, and if she gives it, I'll put the link back up.
