I noticed something remarkable a few days ago when the girls happened to be standing next to each other. "Delia!" I said blankly. "When on earth did you grow to be as tall as Fiona? You're just about exactly the same height now."

Fiona's face crumpled comically. "Oh, don't," she said. "Don't say anything about it! It's not fair!"

Delia snickered. "She hates to be reminded."

"Maybe if you'd start eating vegetables, Fiona..."

Fiona has landed a part-time job selling books two days a week at Dreamhaven Books, starting after school ends. The owner, Greg Ketter, is a family friend. I actually worked at Dreamhaven myself, twenty years ago or so.

Now she has to find another part-time job to fill the other days. But we're very pleased. It's a start. And oh boy! It's a science fiction/fantasy bookstore! Could there possibly be a more perfect job for her?
