pegkerr: (Do not be hasty)
I'm grabbing a quick moment to check in thanks to the kind nun who is letting me use her computer here at the Spirituality Center. (Thanks, Sister Dorothy.)

I'm in St. Joseph, Minnesota, about eighty miles from home.

Minneapolis, according to the Star Tribune website, received sixteen and a half inches of snow. They've pulled the buses off the road and said no travel should be attempted there in the Twin Cities, at least tonight. I see that some on my friends list took about an hour and a half to dig their cars out of snowbanks in order to move them to the other side of the street for the snow emergency.

Man, how am I supposed to drive home safely eighty miles tomorrow if the Snowpacolypse is that bad? In my rattletrap Jeep with the door falling off and a possibly failing clutch no less?

If it looks too dangerous to attempt the trip tomorrow I certainly would consider just calling in on Monday and saying I can't make it--except I'm supposed to get my dental crown surgery at 8:00 a.m. Monday morning. And my tooth hurts enough that I really don't want to put it off. (Except I wonder if THAT will be cancelled....) And I don't want to miss St. Lucia's day. It's our LAST St. Lucia's day with Fiona at home. Will be keeping an eye on the weather and traffic reports tomorrow and keeping my fingers crossed and decide whether I'll attempt the trip then.

(No, Mom, despite the fact that I do want to get home, I promise I won't do it if it's too dangerous.)

Anyway, the retreat's been great. I've made nine new soul collage cards. IF and when I get home, I'll scan and post them.
