Commuting with Delia
Oct. 6th, 2011 09:56 amCommuting with Delia has been fun. It feels like a step back in time, and yet not. It used to be that I picked the girls up from the Y after school (their school bus dropped them off there in the afternoons). Now, instead of sitting in the booster seat in the back seat, crankily throwing cheerios, she now sits in the front and runs the iPod ("The Educator," she calls it, "because I'm gonna use it to educate you about popular music.") This week it's been Cee Lo Green, BlackEyedPeas, Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga and Pink. I pull up to the stop in front of the Metrodome and she bounds out of the car to run for the bus, her staggeringly heavy backpack on her back, carrying her tiffen box, phone in her pocket, new awesome haircut bouncing.
She's happy. I love seeing her enjoy school this year.
