We have fled our house: the power went out at 8:00 p.m. last night, and it still isn't on. Our thermostat is electric powered, so we had no heat, and the temperature was -15 below last night, I think. Even with every blanket on the bed, it was pretty unbearable, and of course we have an electric stove, so no way to make something hot to warm us up. The power should be back today sometime, hopefully before the pipes freeze.
It was a pretty widespread outage, about 4,500 people last night, down to 550 this morning, of which we are among the lucky few. I wonder what caused it.
