Fiona is so not a morning person. Moreover, I knew she was exceedingly worried about today's math test in her Series and Sequences class. When I spoke with her last night about it, she said she DID not understand it and was afraid of bombing it. She went to the TA's office hours but was thwarted by the ten people in line ahead of her. But she and her daddy were going to stay up late trying to figure it out (Rob has been studying Fiona's math book at odd hours). I did not stay up to see the study session: my meds have been making me crash at about 8 pm the past few nights.

Fiona and I have been commuting together in the morning. It's just a quick 5 minute detour for me to drop her off at the U on my way to work. I met her downstairs, as I was getting ready to walk out the door, and something about her--her recklessly defiant hair cut sticking out in all directions, her legs apart, chin lifted, arms akimbo, made me say, 'Wow. You really look like you're going to rock that math test.'

'Studies show that if you take ten seconds to stand in the Wonder Woman pose, it boosts your self-confidence,' she said.

'Really?'

'It's a thing.'

She chose all the bounciest music on my ipod on the way in. 'It is necessary. I am determined to be in an excellent mood.' I dropped her off at Coffman Union and fondly watched her stride in, back pack bouncing, no doubt to kick her math test's butt.
